Tom Delonge Fender Build

Richard got it in his head recently to buy a Tom Delonge signature Fender - seeing as they are pretty hard to come by we decided to build our own version! We started with a Squier strat from gumtree:

Rich bought additional parts from the web - a pearloid scratchplate, new chrome volume knob, ernie ball strings and a new pickup.

We stripped the guitar down and sanded it back to its primer coat, covering most things in the house in a layer of pink dust in the process!

After a few coats of surf green nitrocellulose paint:

Electronics in this were pretty simple - just one volume pot and a single Seymour Duncan Invader in the bridge position. Easiest soldering job I've done so far! Sounds pretty good too!

Boba Fett scratch build helmet

I decided to make a Boba Fett lid for my good bud Andrew a couple of months ago, but sadly didn't have time to finish it for Christmas. Completed it a few days ago, hopefully he will forgive me! It was made from cardboard using a template readily available online, and then covered with filler and spray painted. I might put up some work in progress pics to show how it developed.

I also made a little LED circuit for the rangefinder.

Bear Tee

I converted my bear lino cut into an svg file so i could screen print it, and here is the result, modelled by the incomparable Tristo. The graininess in the image on the right is in fact flecks of gold in the black paint.

More wild beasties

here are a couple more lino cuts. They're a bit rough, were only test prints of the linos at this point. I'm thinking of making at least a few more in this series for the moment, perhaps an eagle next...

I'm still alive! The first of the wild beasties

Once again, I neglect my blog for months on end and then come back to it. Just to prove I am still alive, here is the first in a potential series of lino cuts:

I want to do a series of lino cuts based on wild animals. I'll post more as it comes together. I've also been working feverishly on some t-shirt designs so hopefully more info (and piccys!) will come soon. I fully intend to stop neglecting this blog! Honest!

Iron Man Sketch

This is actually a sketch I dug out just now, I probably did this a few years ago now! I thought at the time it was pretty crap, but looking at it now, it's not so bad.

LA Confidential poster design

I have neglected my digital drawing for the past few weeks, it's surprising how quickly you fall out of the routine. Here is my sketch for today - I'm looking to do more film poster ideas as well as some book illos hopefully. I intend to update my website soon too!!

sketch a day #9

Today I decided to focus on eyes...might actually focus on eyes for the next few days! I want to practice drawing eyes from various angles, I tend to struggle with eyes and mouths when it comes to portraits. Thinking if I focus on the different elements I can pull it all together later.

sketch a day #8

I really wasn't in the mood to draw today after a tiring day at work, but I persevered! Started by doing some 60 second figure sketched on - pretty hand to get going. I really want to improve my figure drawing, so might look to do more of these.

also really, really want to improve my portrait skills. I think I tend to try to dive straight into details when I haven't properly filled out the proportions etc. Will have to try and knuckle down!
