I'm interested in mixing things up, taking some of my sketches and editing them in photoshop. I love splattery, sloppy, drippy images but instead of my usual vector splodgyness, I am trying to do a bit more with photoshop. I want to do a few more things that are simple, instead of cramming loads of stuff into the image which I normally do. Hopefully some of this stuff will convert nicely into images that I can use in the final project of the year - making my own book...

Kafka Animatics
I'm currently storyboarding for an animatic based on Kafka's novella Metamorphosis. My idea is tacked to the rear end of the story, based just after the point that Gregor has died. The story is pretty depressing, and I want to give his afterlife a more positive and lively feel, using the day of the dead (dia de los muertos, not the film) as inspiration for it. This storyboard will then be made into an animatic and if I have time, perhaps a short flash animation.

Where did my drawing skills go?
I've been wanting, for a while, to get back to observational drawing. I have let my drawing slip, being tempted by the wonders of digital doodlings. I particularly want to combine analogue drawing with digital processes, it just gives a lot more character to the work. I'm also pondering possible t-shirt designs to enter on threadless, hopefully that might be a by product of this process...Anyhow, here is an example of my first sketch edited in photoshop. I added a few paper textures and hand drawn swirlyness to make it a bit more interesting. You can also see the initial sketch on my deviantart page.
