I stumbled upon this nifty little application that tracks the movement of your mouse over time - pretty neat! This is an image of my mouse activity over almost 3 hours. the blobs show where the mouse paused for different amounts of time. I'll probably keep playing with this, it gives really interesting results. you can download the application at IOGraphica.

self initiated project #2
A really rough idea, I've been thinking of how to represent WSA, I like the idea of showing links between pathways, courses etc to give a feeling that we are all in the same boat. I have been looking at tube maps and graphic data representation (as usual) as well as other random bits and bobs. I am thinking of using colour to give an idea of which pathway people are from, which year they are in, and which course they are on. This could all get quite complicated with the amount of pathway options and stuff...something I'll have to work out. I might just stick to a few colours to highlight differences. We'll see.

self initiated project
here is a really early sketchy idea for part of my self initiated project. I'm looking into grids, specifically isometric at the moment. I might try to use it to influence/create a typeface for use on the web and in publication. We'll see. I want to use the same grid system throughout my final work to give it consistency. Hopefully all will go well.

Paper Darth
A couple of weeks ago I decided to make a large scale graphic on the studio wall. I used a projected image of Darth as a template and cut black paper to make the image. I was originally thinking of painting it on, but I decided on making something less permanent.

Typeface
It's nearly 2:00 on Wednesday morning, and I'm still working on this typeface. Crit tomorrow. Loads to do. It's coming together very slowly, haven't completed the alphabet but I have some things to show at the very least.

new digital collages
for the 'genius loci' brief I'm trying to experiment more with different methods. I want to make more 3D stuff, and here is my first effort at a bit of digital collage, using elements cut out of a book I bought at a charity shop.
