infographics...kind of.

This is a really basic idea for a series of graphics I want to make for the publication. Each shape represents a member who will be in the book. I'm not too happy with the way it is looking at the moment, still needs a lot of development.

Banging my head against a brick wall

This is a bit of a reaction towards my project. I've been sat with Josh all day trying to think up ideas/logos/names etc. In the words of Seasick Steve, we started with nothing, and we still have most of it left! I think I will try loosening up a bit and just let the ideas flow, instead of trying to be too clever with it. As long as I can get some images made it'll give me something to develop. Will have to see if much happens in the tutorial tomorrow to help.

self initiated - more poster designs.

I haven't done much work for a few days, been really preoccupied. Finally getting back into some graphics for poster/publication and hopefully it'll feed well into the rest of my work for this project. I'm going to experiment with some black and white printing on some coloured paper tomorrow, will hopefully post any decent stuff up then. I'm trying to break out of the rigid isometric grid stuff that I've been doing recently, this is a bit more loose and conceptual. My main concern for the poster/display side of this project is having a decent aesthetic that will capture people's attention, and not so much the idea behind it. This is still a bit rough around the edges but I'm slowly making progress.

Self Initiated Project

I've been messing around all night trying to get some ideas down for my project - ideas for layouts, patterns etc. This is a rough idea for a poster relating to the graphics pathway. It's all a bit 'Chad Hagen' and sterile at the moment, I'm hoping to develop it. It needs to relate a lot more to the pathway. The second example is an experiment with grayscale and background color - with a little help from meow. I might try printing it on coloured paper in black and white and see what happens.

Random skulls

I have been inspired by GO Media to try my hand at a bit of wacomming, after leaving it to gather dust for a fair while. Need to keep practising!

Print Will Never Die

A quote I found in 'Look At This'. Using the typeface I made for my typography brief.

self initiated project #3

I'm running out of imaginative titles for these posts. I'm still working on the unified idea of the uni, a network of people connected by pathway, course or the university itself. I had a brainwave this morning regarding this rough idea I have put together in Illustrator. I want to use layers of tracing paper to build up a graphic, with separate parts of the image on different pages, so that when you flick through them it reveals or subtracts areas of the image. There will be different data on each page relating to a particular member of the directory. I'm working on the idea of having sections of the text masked off until you turn the pages, revealing the information beneath.
